The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) has just announced the big winners of its annual awards ahead of its 125th banquet on June 10, and we are so excited to announce that Brown Harris Stevens CEO Bess Freedman is this year’s recipient of the Kenneth R. Gerrety Humanitarian Award!
First given in 1989, the award recognizes outstanding service by REBNY members to the community. The award memorializes Kenneth Gerrety who served REBNY as Executive Vice President for 18 years.
Bess is a tireless advocate for her agents and the entire brokerage industry as well as a fiercely proud New Yorker. Her incredible leadership and generosity of service in and out of real estate make her an ideal candidate for this award.
Over the years, Bess has raised funds and awareness for the Innocence Project and the Kalief Browder Foundation, she has marched in support of the LGBTQ+ community and women’s rights, and she was the first head of a major brokerage to give her employees Election Day off so they could head to the polls unencumbered.
Bess is always committed to doing what’s right and all of us at Brown Harris Stevens are proud to be part of her team!
Congratulations, Bess!
