October in the Hamptons is more than farm stands, pumpkin picking, ghosts, and goblins (although we have our fair share). Indoors or out, in-person or virtual, there are so many events to choose from. Here's a selection of 31 of fun activities to enjoy in October 2021.
October 1: Tour the Watermill Center

October 2: Andy Warhol Preserve Visual Arts Project
Explore themes of color perception, sensory memories of the outdoors, and found objects in art.
October 3: The 31st Annual Largest Clam Contest
Enjoy a fun-filled event with live music, face painting, a chowder contest, and of course, a prize for the largest clam.
October 4: Roy Lichtenstein: History in the Making
This is the first major museum exhibition to investigate the early work of one of the most celebrated American artists. Roy Lichtenstein’s long history with the East End makes this a singular occasion.
October 5: Creative Collage: Matisse, Krasner & Pollock
Discover the innovative collages of three modern masters: Matisse, Krasner, and Pollock. Then virtually tour the Pollock Krasner studio and create your own collages.
October 6: Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser
The Bridgehampton Association’s Annual Golf Outing will take place at the Bridgehampton Club and include lunch and prizes. Proceeds benefit the Bridgehampton community.
October 7: Hamptons International Film Festival

Attend screenings and world premieres of a unique collection of international films at this year’s Hamptons International Film Festival, running October 7–13.
October 8: Art & Meditation at the Parrish Art Museum

October 9: ARF Stroll to the Sea

October 10: 45th Annual Country Fair

October 13: The Gory Gallery

This delightfully haunting yet humorous history exhibit is sure to delight, entertain, and horrify!
October 14: Hitched on Art
Did you know Hitchcock recreated 20th-century masterpieces in his films? Enjoy a virtual presentation and learn where Hitchcock created the art and which artists he was most fond of.
October 15: Philosophy Discussion: Postmodernism
Join a philosophical discussion that will probe the emergence of Postmodernism from the era of Modernism and see how it plays out in every aspect of our current culture.
October 16: Fall Bird Migration at Promised Land
An expert birder will take you on an excursion to Promised Land, the perfect location to observe our songbirds during their late fall migration.
October 17: Sunday Afternoon Chess in the Courtyard
Tired of playing chess online? Meet up for a game of chess in the East Hampton Library’s courtyard. All levels are welcome.
October 18: Pumpkin Picking on the East End

October 19: Halloween Escape Room
Can you beat the clock and escape before the time runs out? Use your wits to find the clues needed to escape. Beware: ghosts, ghouls, and goblins may try to stop you.
October 20: Introduction to Beekeeping
Learn the basics of starting a bee colony and the importance of these pollinators to our local ecology from a master beekeeper.
October 21: Fall Festival Weekend in Herrick Park
Enjoy a fun fall celebration in Herrick Park with food vendors, arts and crafts for sale, live music, games for the kids, and lots more.
October 22: After Hours Movie Night: The Corpse Bride
Watch Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride," a stop-motion animated musical fantasy film set in a fictional Victorian-era village in England.
October 23: Autumn Leaves: Rub, Draw, and Paint
Learn about leaves and how you can use them in art projects. Have fun making leaf rubbings as well as painting leaves with watercolor.
October 24: Wag-O-Ween Spooktacular
Join the Southampton Animal Shelter for some fun. There will be a contest and costume parade, bake sale, games, auction, photo booth, and much more.
October 25: Writing with Wade
Join actor/playwright Wade Dooley, the creator of Bay Street’s "The Prompter," for a weekly writing salon. Share your work weekly and get feedback from Wade and your fellow students.
October 26: Just for Laughs Improv
You don’t need to be funny to take this class. Just be open to fun and join improv master Scott Baker to learn both short-form and character-development improvisation techniques.
October 27: Halloween Cupcake Wars
This creative and tasty crafts activity designed for the fall season lets you create your own spooky cupcakes and compete for prizes.
October 28: Dogs of Chernobyl
Get a personal look, through rare videos and photos, at the dogs who descended from the pets left behind after the nuclear accident of 1986.
October 29: Kids’ Halloween Bash
Unfurl those capes, shine your tiara, and break out the face paint for the Halloween Bash. Families are invited to join a fun-filled evening of ghoulish games, trick or treating, creepy crafts, and more.
October 30: Little Lucy’s Pet Parade
Bring your best-dressed dog to Agawam Park and then a parade through the Village. There will be costume awards, raffles, celebrity judges, live music, food, vendors, and more. All proceeds will go to the Kent Animal Shelter.
October 31: Tripleheader Hike
North Fork, Multiple Locations
Spend the day on the North Fork with three short hikes in beautiful Suffolk County parks, first at Inlet Pond, then Dam Pond, and finally Orient Point.
