They advanced into the second round of the tournament, where they swiftly beat the Murray State Racers with a 70-60 win. The triumphs earned the Peacocks their first Sweet 16 appearance in the school's history.

The celebration has continued throughout Jersey City since, bolstering local pride and activity as many herald the underdog team's triumph as a Cinderella story of sorts.
