Ultra-Luxury Spa Turned Rental in The Hamptons

Updated: Jun 11, 2020

For many, Memorial Day weekend signals the unofficial kick-off to summer. For Hamptons renters, the weekend also kicks-off the year’s highest rental season. Year after year city-dwellers make their escape out East, sending the market skyward, and this year is no exception. Airbnb and VRBO reported 2,164 bookings in April in the Hamptons -- a 98% increase versus 2019.

With demand being so high, it’s no surprise that Shou Sugi Ban House owner Amy Cherry-Abitol, after being directly affected by COVID-19, got creative and turned the luxurious 13-room spa and resort into a summer oasis. Listed at the top of the Hamptons market, the property is available for rent from Memorial Day to Labor Day for a total of $1.25 million, or roughly $400,000 per month.

So what does $400,000 per month get you?

The three-acre gated compound is brand new, featuring 13 private guest studios with their own private entrances, garden patios, gas fireplaces, soaking bathtubs, and radiant heated floors.

The multifaceted estate also offers complete access to a fully equipped spa providing a combination of outdoor hydrotherapy plunge pools, watsu swimming pool, a steam room, sauna, infrared sauna, ice fountain, five treatment rooms and solarium roof deck.

The grounds are meticulously landscaped, featuring Japanese inspired gardens, fountains, trees and grasses. The property is home to a 5,784+/- square-foot central barn building which is inclusive of a fully outfitted office and conference center, screening room, library, chef's kitchen and dining area, lounge, tea bar, 60 ft. glass pavilion, yoga lawn, fireplace, outdoor fire lounge and cherry orchard.

The in-house culinary team, led by Michelin-starred chef Mads Refslund, will design a menu to cater to your culinary needs. The team is able to select the finest locally sourced, organic foods based on seasonal collaborations with local farms and are available to employ throughout your stay.

This sprawling escape is also adorned with an open-air fitness pavilion completely outfitted with weights, bands, kettlebells, balance balls and jump ropes as well as built-in TRX, ballet and stall bars. Private programming such as spa and healing arts treatments, nutrition education, meditation and movement classes, may also be included upon request. Additional optional add-ons also include a fleet of three Teslas, a Chris Craft picnic boat, and tennis court access.

Shou Sugi Ban House, located at 337 Montauk Highway 329, is the complete Hamptons retreat, providing a serene, transformative environment to encourage thought and an opportunity to recharge.
